Born in 1947 with its firstlings, hydropower plants Jajce and Jablanica, Hidrogradnja has acquired the reputation of the world renowned firm in almost all fields of construction in over half a century of operations at home and foreign markets.

Organization that is appropriate to the strict rules of the international market, and flexible management, accompanied by the education of own staff, enabled Hidrogradnja's business family to make its first steps at the international market way back in 1958. In that year, Hidrogradnja began its business operations in Lebanon, where it operated successfully until 1969. The first international successes opened the door to our business family in other countries as well.
Hidrogradnja made its first step at the Libyan market way back in 1967. Its strategic determination to achieve top quality in all aspects of operations has provided 41 years of continuity of Hidrogradnja's presence in Libya.

We remember 1957 as the year of entry of our business family to the Iraqi market. A number of investment projects in Iraq, complex and comprehensive both by financial and technical indicators, have been implemented in specific war conditions. Hidrogradnja, as the main implementing authority, has carried out the projects under the turnkey engineering system, affirming its motto Quality as a Business Style.

The development of Hidrogradnja is best illustrated by the fact that it started its operations abroad in 1958 with a project worth 18 million USD. In 1987, Hidrogradnja, along with the firm Enko from Turkey, signed the contract worth 1,5 billion USD, under which the implementation of the project Bekhme in Iraq began with technical assistance of the American Bechtel. Outbreak of the Gulf War suspended further implementation, with only 35% of the completed job. Therefore this entrepreneurship resulted in huge losses.

Unfortunate game of historical events had brought war operations in BiH, destruction of the most facilities and mechanization on the home market, and interruption of significant Hidrogradnja's projects in the country. Relied on its worthiest capital – the staff - Hidrogradnja managed to revive its production facilities from the burning ashes and to implement numerous projects. Having proved its strength and capability even in the most difficult business circumstances, Hidrogradnja has not only survived in such circumstances that would totally crash most of the companies, but it also has kept its leading position in BiH.

We are particularly proud that our business family had managed not only to keep its foreign markets (Libya, Greece) during the war, but it also had opened the new ones (Germany, Tunisia). Successfully implemented projects during the war in BiH are the best testimony that Hidrogradnja is able, even in such aggravated circumstances of business and life, to keep professional relations, affordable prices, meeting the deadlines and the most strict international requirements as to the quality.

Hidrogradnja's business family has been present on the markets of Libya, Germany and Croatia. Our steps to the international market do not have only geographic character. At the same time, they are the confirmation of our determination for the projects where the expertise of our human potential will be expressed in provision of consulting services and mastering of up-to-date technological achievements. Namely, over half a century of experience and constant improvements of efficiency and expertise have resulted in the creation of own know-how that, among other things, has enabled our engagement in provision of project management services in the foreign operations.

Our strategic determination to achieve top quality in all aspects of operations is complementary to the approach to equalize business and environmental efficiency. For all our operations, both in production facilities and in implementation of construction projects, the inherent characteristic is a relation congruent with the sustainable development principles. Such approach has enabled over 50 years of our company's presence at the international market. At the same time, it is also the main principle of operations related to the production of construction materials.

In the period 1975–1978, Hidrogradnja had financed and built with own funds the cement factory in Kakanj that is also specialized in production of special types of cement. The factory, whose capacity is 500,000 tons a year, had operated within Hidrogradnja until 1986.

The facility SIGMA is tasked with production, transport and installation of construction materials and prefabricated concrete elements for the needs of building construction and construction engineering. SIGMA is an example of attention that Hidrogradnja has paid to the reconstruction of production facilities devastated during the war. After the reconstruction, SIGMA's facilities include a new production facility for river aggregates, and modern concrete mixing plant, whose capacity is 110 m3/h. The quarry in Hadžići operates within this facility. The production of high-quality types of aggregates also goes on in Hidrogradnja's quarry Greben. The spectrum of production capacities in the field of production of stone aggregates is complemented by the quarries Misoča and Radava.

RRT (Overhaul Workshops and Transport) is a part of our business family that performs maintenance and overhaul of all types of vehicles and construction mechanization both for our and our clients' needs. Technical inspections and registrations of motor vehicles, including transport of all types of standard and special cargos, are part of our opus. Besides, this segment of Hidrogradnja has referent experience in production and assembling of metal structures and construction metalwork, as well as carrying out of various types of installations.

This rich reference list, which includes large number of projects implemented up to now in almost all fields of construction, is the best proof of success of our principle that is based on establishing partnership with our clients, other construction companies, subcontractors and governmental and non-governmental sectors of the countries where we operate. Being always open for cooperation, we are glad to have supported social, cultural and sport activities, thereby also confirming our sense of integration and accountability to the society wherein we operate.

The workers of Hidrogradnja have left permanent and creative mark of their professional activities by hundreds of edifices throughout the world and, at the same time, ensured high place for Hidrogradnja on the international lists of the world's most successful contractors, such as ENR list. In 1981, Hidrogradnja was on 16th place of the leading project contractor companies. The year 1986 brought 6th place for Hidrogradnja on the top-ten list of leading companies on the Middle East market, while in 1990 Hidrogradnja took 8th place on the top-ten list of companies leading in hydro projects.

Hidrogradnja is proud to have found its place among the best world competitors. However, the greatest pleasure to represent the objects whose functionality and beauty help people and nature to live in complete harmony.
